Do you offer postpartum support?

Included in my fee is a minimum of one postpartum visit for doula clients. I check in on you to make sure you and baby are doing well, feeding is successful, and to talk about your birth and process anything that you need to discuss.  These visits usually last about 1-2 hours and will be a day or two after you get home from the hospital.

Does a doula replace nursing staff?

Doulas offer another level of support along side trained nursing staff!  We get to be with you for the whole birth process and provide information and emotional support while leaving the medical support to the nurses on staff.  Doulas and nurses make a great team.

How do you deal with complications at birth?

We together make a plan for the best possible outcome.  My goal is to help you and your partner make informed decisions about any complications that arise and to know enough to feel confident and positive about the choices you make during your birth.

Out of Hospital birth options?

Yes, you have options!  Please reach out to discuss details on how you can have a positive out-of-hospital experience.  I would be happy to discuss this in person or on a phone call to answer all your questions.

What exactly is placenta encapsulation?

To encapsulate your placenta I take it home and first dehydrate it.  Then I finely grind it into a powder and put it into gelatin capsules for you to take during your postpartum time.  Many women find that it can help alleviate postpartum depression, can help even out mood swings and can even help increase your supply of breast milk!   Some women choose to save it for when their menses return after baby and find that it helps with PMS.  It has also been said to help with perimenopause.
